During our time in the UK, two ministries became especially meaningful for those who wanted to dive deeper into Scripture and grow in their faith: the VISA Course and the Sunday Bible Class. Both were simple gatherings at first—just meals, conversations, and open Bibles—but they soon grew into places where people felt seen, supported, and spiritually nourished.
The VISA Course met once every week. We always began by sharing a meal, because food has a beautiful way of breaking down barriers and helping people feel at home. After dinner, we opened the Scriptures together and explored them slowly and thoughtfully. The course wasn’t just a lecture; it was a space where everyone could ask questions freely, reflect on what they were learning, and make connections between God’s Word and their everyday lives.
Many of those who joined came from different nations, backgrounds, and levels of familiarity with the Bible. Yet each week, as we read and discussed, we saw the same thing happening: people were growing—not only in knowledge but also in confidence and community. Over time, friendships deepened, and the Bible became less intimidating and more alive.

Sunday Bible Class carried a similar heart but unfolded in a different rhythm. After the church service each Sunday, we would gather again over lunch. It was a relaxed moment—plates full, conversations gentle, and Bibles open once more. Together, we talked through the sermon, shared observations, and asked questions that might not have been easy to bring up during the main service.
For many internationals, this became an essential space. English sermons can sometimes be challenging, and theological ideas unfamiliar. Sunday Bible Class provided a softer landing—a space to process, understand, and grow at their own pace.

What made both ministries so precious wasn’t just the content we studied but the community that formed around it. Week by week, through shared meals and shared questions, people found a sense of belonging. They discovered that learning the Bible is not just about information but transformation—shaped by relationships, humility, and the gentle work of God among us.
Looking back, it’s clear that these gatherings became more than weekly meetings; they became safe places where people could encounter Scripture, find encouragement, and build friendships that extended far beyond the classroom. As we archive this chapter of our ministry, we remember the laughter around dinner tables, the thoughtful conversations, and the quiet moments when someone understood a biblical truth in a fresh, personal way. These are the memories we carry with gratitude, trusting that the seeds planted will continue to grow wherever God leads each person next.
